The behavioral and educational functions of society

@ 01.12.2022

Another interesting aspect of the study of society is its behavioral and educational functions.

To begin with, we are all human beings a product, a result of the influence of society and its individual institutions on our human selves. Family, kindergarten, school, army, high school, and so on are all our social educators and teachers. And whether the next genius of art, writer, artist or another serial killer, tyrant, dictator will appear in the history of mankind depends on how kindly and qualitatively the course of education will be passed.

Of course, it is worth admitting that society gives you a chance, gives you an opportunity, helps you and guides you. Or society disfigures, leaves you to your fate, breaks you, kills you.

If positive examples of personal development in society remain as a matter of course, society must take the terrible cases of human transformation and degradation as its own fault. This is because society is responsible for the way a person is raised, what moral principles are instilled in him, what values a person takes as a basis.

Crime is a disease and society's fault. Sociopathy, religious and national intolerance are the unconditional responsibility of society, which is unable to instill in its members the standards of peaceful coexistence and correct social interaction.

The state largely acts as an instrument for applying society's intentions to specific social strata and classes. An exception might be cases of totalitarian or autocratic regimes in which the state actually substitutes itself for society.

Society, which is in an equilibrium harmonious state, is capable of leveling out and correcting very many general social problems and troubles of particular families and people. In many respects, institutions of social interaction and influence can be much more effective than a crude, unhurried and often bony state apparatus with its normative regulation.

Therefore, it is the health of society, its strength and balance that allows us to talk about what the quality of life of each particular person is, how much this society can help people grow, develop, help themselves and others, and continue the chain of passing positive social experience to future generations.
